EVENT INFORMATION
Long Beach Opera – Coincidence
Border of Hope and Despair
Saturday, March 9, 2pm
Museum of Latin American Art, 628 Alamitos Ave, Long Beach
Where does contemporary culture and contemporary art collide? For Gregorio Luke, expert on Mexican and Latin American art and culture, the border outlines the clash between wealth and poverty, hope and despair. It is the scene of a bloody drug war and choice fodder for the contemporary artist. Luke, along with librettist Ruben Ortiz – Torres, will illuminate the dynamic history of this rich, tragic, and explosive world and its influences on contemporary art and music. Come join us for this multimedia event with a sneak peek into LBO’s US premiere of Camelia la Tejana – Only the Truth.
General Admission - $35. VIP Admission - $50. VIP admission includes premiere seating and a wine reception with the artists.
